The work by Peter of Lombardy, the Bishop of Paris, published in Basel in 1507, belongs among Libri catenati – the chained books that were the books in monastic libraries chained to reading desks in order to prevent them from being removed. Displayed in the anteroom to the General Reading Room is one of a few books preserved with a complete chain. It comes from the monastic library of the Franciscans in Cheb (also known as Eger). Its holding was purchased by the National Library in 2008.
