Mauer (ca 1730–1788): Neu topograph. Karte von der umliegend-Gegend von Wien, Wien 1786
Scale ca 1:75 000, oriented west-southwest, copper engraving 40 x 51 cm (on a sheet 42,5 x 56 cm).
A five-color map of Vienna and its surroundings remarkably combines color printing from single plates in black, red, and green, with additional hand coloring in blue and brown.
The map was the author´s second attempt at a multi-color print; the first one – also depicting the Vienna region – comes from 1783. The name Mauer is thought to be a pseudonym of Joseph Daniel von Huber (1730/1731–1788), who made, among other, a large bird´s eye map of Prague.
