The Kralice Bible 1613 - 2013
September 12 – November 3, 2013
The exhibition, commemorating the 400th anniversary of the last edition of the Kralice Bible before the Battle of White Mountain, is the most comprehensive exhibition on this subject so far, presenting the latest scientific research. It provides information about the history of the Kralice Bible translation from its beginning to the present and explains why the Kralice Bible became one of the jewels of Czech national culture. The exhibits from the holdings of the National Library of the CR and other significant collections feature earlier Czech biblical translations, original prints of the Kralice Bible and its foreign-language sources as well as some period documents not yet presented to the public. Displayed are also original printing letters found in the fortified manor of Kralice nad Oslavou, unique proofreading proofs of parts of the Unity of Brethren´s Hymn Book,or early printed books whose meaning remained hidden until recently, including the copies once owned by eminent figures of the time, e.g. printed books in leather bindings from the library collections of the Moravian Žerotín Family or the Lords of Waldstein.

The heritage of Saints Cyril and Methodius
May 20 – September 30, 2013
The exhibition maps reviving the tradition of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Bohemia and especially in Moravia from the 2nd. half of the 19th century, which is connected with the jubilee anniversary of the arrival of Saints Cyril and Methodius to Great Moravia and the issue of Grande Munus encyclical by Pope Leo III. It documents the heyday of this tradition in Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe in the 1st half of the 20th century, its decline after World War II due to the seizure of power by Bolshevik regimes in the Slavic countries and an attempt for its reviving in the late 1980s. The exposition presents monographs and periodicals focused on the theme of Saints Cyril and Methodius from the collections of the Slavonic Library.
Exhibition grounds of the Slavonic Library, third floor, Mon - Fri: 9 am – 7 pm, Sat: 9 am – 2 pm
