Instructions for Use of Photoduplication Services Made to Order

List of products of photoduplication services provided to order by the National Library of the Czech Republic

National Library of the Czech Republic makes to order copies from library units from the collections of or mediated by the National Library, which are not allowed for self-service copying.

The following types of copies (a - g) are allowed to be made to order in the National Library:


a) Xerocopies from originals of small size made in protective regime

Xerocopies from originals up to A4 format, which are not allowed for self-service copying, are made in protective regime.

  • Xerocopies are made in A4 and A3 formats and are delivered in terms as follows:
Copies up to 30 pages 1 week
Copies of 31+ pages 3 weeks


Fees

b) Copies from originals of large size made from microfilm

Copies from materials larger than A4 format are made from microfilm. Final products of making copies from microfilm are enlargements - xerocopies, which are provided in A4 and A3 formats.

  • Enlargements from microfilm from materials kept in modern library collections are delivered in the terms as follows:
Copies up to 30 pages 1 week
Copies of 31+ pages 3 weeks
  • Enlargements from microfilm from materials kept in historical collections are, due to the way of their processing, usually made in the term of 8 weeks from the date of order. In case of extensive orders it is necessary to agree individually the term of delivery with the particular library collection curator.

c) Copies from microfilms and microfiches in the National Library collections

The following copies are made from microfilms and microfiches in the National Library collections:

  • Enlargements - xerocopies in A4 and A3 (only from microfilm) formats in the terms as follows:
Copies up to 30 pages 1 week
Copies of 31+ pages 3 weeks


Fees

  • Copies from microfilm (positive) in the term of 3 weeks from the date of order

Fees

  • Enhanced photographs from microfilm of all usual dimensions max. up to 30x40 cm in the term of 3 weeks from the date of order.

d) Copies made on large-format scanner

Large-format scanner serves for making black-and-white copies from originals exceeding A4 format and colour copies of all formats. However, the dimension of the original may not exceed A1 format.

  • Black-and-white and colour copies - prints are made in A4 and A3 formats in the terms as follows:
Copies up to 3 pages 1 day (usually the day after the day of order)
Copies from 4 to 10 pages 3 days
Copies from 11 to 30 pages 1 week
Copies from 31 to 50 pages 2 weeks
Copies of 50+ pages 3 weeks


Fees

e) Reproductions of photographs and colour slides

Black-and-white reproductions of photographs and colour slides are made from graphic originals from the National Library collections.

  • Reproductions of photographs of all usual dimensions max. up to 30x40 cm are made in the term of 3 weeks from the date of order. A negative used for making the reproduction remains in possession of the National LIbrary. Sale of a negative, if any, must be negotiated by a user with the responsible library staff member.

  • Colour slides are only made in dimension of 6x9 cm and are delivered in the term of 3 weeks from the date of order.

f) Digital copies

In the National Library, digital copies are made form graphic originals, which must be digitized and from the already digitized National Library sources. Digital copies are supplied in the user-friendly format and lower.

  • Digital copies in digitization of graphic originals from the National Library collections are delivered in terms as follows:
Digital copies up to 3 pages of the original 1 day
Digital copies from 4 to 10 pages of the original 3 days
Digital copies from 11 to 30 pages of the original 1 week
Digital copies from 31 to 50 pages of the original 2 weeks
Digital copies of 50+ pages of the original 3 weeks


Fees

  • Digital copies from the already digitized National Library sources (Manuscriptorium and Kramerius databases) are made in the term of 3 weeks from the date of order.

g) Electronic delivery of copies

Electronic delivery is possible in case of copies from library units from the National Library collections, and possibly also in case of copies of articles delivered electronically within International Interlibrary Services. The service of electronic delivery of documents is contractual, copies are delivered in 48 hours from the time of order.

Instructions for making copies to order in the National Library of the Czech Republic (a –e):


a) Orders of copies from the National Library collections placed on-site

way of placing order order may be placed in the NL reading rooms, complicated cases may be consulted with a reading-room supervisor
way of delivery copies may be collected personally right in the National Library (Main Hall) or may be sent by post to the given address
way of payment
  • ready cash right in the National Library (Main Hall) in personal collection of copies
  • invoice or cash on delivery, if copies are sent by post

Photoduplication services are charged according to the valid Price List



b) Orders of copies from the National Library collections placed off-site

way of placing order binding order may be sent to the Dept. of Reference and ILL Services either in writing, by fax, e-mail or via electronic delivery of documents (only on the basis of subscription)
way of delivery copies may be collected personally in the NL (Reference Centre), sent to given address, or possibly be displayed on the NL ftp server (electronic delivery of documents )
way of payment
  • ready-cash on personal receipt of copies
  • invoice - institutions and foreign clients
  • giro transfer form - copies sent on the territory of the Czech Republic
  • cash on delivery - copies sent on the territory of the Czech Republic
  • subscription (electronic delivery of documents )

Photoduplication services are charged according to the valid Price List


c) Orders of copies from the collections of special departments and reading rooms

way of placing order copies may be ordered directly or in writing in the following offices (Manuscript and Early Printed Books Reading Room, Library of Library and Information Science Literature, Music Department Reading Room, Slavonic Library)
way of delivery copies may be collected personally directly in the NL (Main Hall) or may be sent by post to the given address
way of payment
  • ready cash right in the National Library (Main Hall) in personal collection of copies
  • invoice or cash on delivery, if copies are sent by post

d) Order of copies from the collections of Czech and foreign libraries for the NL users

Other binding instructions for users of photoduplication services made to order (a –d):

  1. In ordering copies from originals from the National Library collections, a user will complete duly the Order Form for Photoduplication Works and will identify with bookmarks the pages in documents required for copying.
  2. In case a user does not write all identification data in the order and does not prepare the original for copying as requested, extra fees to the price for copies will be charged according to the valid National Library of the Czech Republic Fees and Services Price List.
  3. In copying to order a user is obliged to respect instructions of the reading room supervisor, or if need be, the curator of particular library collection, who will specify the appropriate way of making a copy.
  4. A user must consult the reading room supervisor if he/ she intends to use his/ her own electronic equipment for making copies from originals that are not allowed for self-service copying. Supervisor´s instructions are obligatory for a user.
  5. The copies made for and delivered to user may only be used for user´s personal needs, any other use must be treated by an agreement.

Providing photoduplication services to order is ruled by Rules and Regulations of the National Library of the Czech Republic and Rules for Making Copies in the National Library of the Czech Republic.

Prices for photoduplication services provided by the National Library of the Czech Republic are stipulated in The National Library of the Czech Republic Fees and Services Price List.

In case the originals from historical and archival collections are used for copying an additional charge is requested
