Exhibitions organised by the Slavonic Library in 2022
Famine in Ukraine (1932-1933)
In the form of panels with photographs and texts in Czech and Ukrainian, as well as showcases with relevant publications from the Slavic Library's collection, the exhibition presents the most important moments of the famine that was artificially induced by the Soviet government in 1932 for political and economic reasons. Although the famine affected many areas of the Soviet Union, it was also genocidal in Ukraine, with the aim of completely suppressing the national consciousness of the Ukrainian people. The exhibition is held on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the outbreak of this catastrophe, which claimed between 3-5 million victims in Ukraine alone.
The exhibition was prepared by the Academy of National Minorities, the Slavonic Library, the Association of Ukrainians and Supporters of Ukraine and the Russian Tradition Association.
