The Mystery of the Trojan Chronicle
Beginnings of book printing in the Czech lands

12th March – 30th May 2010
On Sunday April 18, the Klementinum Gallery will be open from 2 p.m.


 

The exhibition presents various aspects of the introduction of book printing in the Czech Lands. It tries to show changes brought by the inventin of book printing to people at the Late Middle Ages.
The core of the exhibition is formed by a set of printed books from the first printing workshop in Bohemia at all that worked in West Bohemian Pilsen from around 1476. Six of the unique printed books out of this set are kept in the collections of the National Library of the CR, one is in the Strahov Library of Premonstratensians). All of the books could be publicly seen only twice in our country in the last century. In addition to that, a visitor will have an opportunity to solve the mystery of the Trojan Chronicle that is,for sure the best-known printed book among the oldest Czech incunables.

200 YEARS OF PRAGUE CONSERVATORY - the oldest conservatory in Central Europe
15th January - 27th March 2010

A touring exhibition, organised in association with the Prague Conservatory, commemorates an important anniversary of the foundation of this cultural institution, which was included among the UNESCO World Anniversaries for the year 2011. The exhibition summarises the most important that the school has brought Czech, European and world culture over the course of its existence and it also commemorates eminent personalities, who studied there.

SLAVONIC CHURCH REUNION - The Ways to Church Unity
5th March - 23rd April 2010

The exhibition maps the efforts for restoration of unity between the Western and Eastern Church. It presents the social impact of the Slavonic church reunion movement and features its eminent political and church representatives. In details it describes the period of the 19th century in France and Austria-Hungary, especially Slovenia and Croatia, in the Czech lands the attention is focused on Velehrad.
The author of the exhibition is Anežka Kindlerová. The opening ceremony is held on 4th March at 5 pm.

Exhibition grounds of the Slavonic Library on the Third floor, Monday to Friday: 9 am - 7 pm, Saturday: 9 am - 2 pm.
