The Klementinum, an impressive Baroque area in the centre of Prague, is one of Prague´s distinctive and important localities. It has been a long time since it united its fate with the National Library of the Czech Republic. The exhibition´s objective is to present, first time in this range, the historical and artistic development of the building and to show both the cultural and social position of the phenomenon of the Klementinum, originally a Jesuit college. The exhibition is organised to satisfy those visitors who at present cannot visit the Klementinum historical areas due to the ongoing reconstruction.

The Klementinum Gallery - groundfloor, Tuesday - Sunday: 10.30 am - 6 pm

The REDISCOVER Project (September 2009 – November 2010) associates national libraries of four countries – Czech Republic, Lithuaniania, Poland and Romania. It aim is to virtually reconstruct written and documentary heritage of Central European countries through the Manuscriptorium digital library and to create conditions to trace Central European culture in its integrity and diversity.
This exhibition is intended to be a presentation of partners of the REDISCOVER Project as well as an invitation to think about questions of cultural identity in today´s Europe.
